The projects consists of the refurbishment of existing space in the CUH Theatre Block for a new Hybrid Vascular Theatre, including refurbishment and expansion of the current Theatre Reception and Theatre Recovery areas. Hybrid Vascular Theatre: A hybrid vascular theatre is a specialized operating room that combines traditional surgical capabilities with advanced imaging technologies such as MRI and CT which enables intra-operative diagnostics. This allow surgeons to perform both open and minimally invasive procedures on the same patient in a single, controlled environment. This means that the theatre can seamlessly integrate open surgery with endovascular procedures, such as stent placement or aneurysm repair, all without requiring the patient to be moved between different facilities. Theatre Reception: The current footprint of Theatre Reception is inadequate with only 4 bays which are too small and provide little privacy. The Nurse-s station consists of a stand-alone desk in this confined space offering no privacy for Nursing or Medical staff to have patient and/or staff sensitive discussions. The patients w.c. is small and located in a confined, difficult to access area and is not suitable for patients- requiring chaperones or assistance. There are no Clean or Dirty utility or Storage facilities currently in Theatre Recovery. Theatre Recovery: Theatre Recovery has 9 bays serving 9 Theatres in the main Theatre Complex as well as 2 remote Theatres (Theatre 9 and the Hybrid Theatre). There are no isolation bays within the current footprint. Due to inadequate capacity in Theatre Recovery, patients are regularly recovered within Theatre, while awaiting one of the bays to become available. This has a significant impact on patient flow and Theatre utilization. The reconfigured CUH Theatre Complex with 11 theatres will have 22 Recovery bays. Net Floor Area of 1230 Sqr M
