Competition for the appointment of design and build contractors by Wexford and Carlow County Councils for the delivery of social housing via a MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) Social Housing Pilot Project.
Prior Information Notice (PIN) to advise the market that Wexford County Council and Carlow County Council intend to initiate a tender competition in Q1 2024 for a pilot project seeking to fully examine the benefits of off-site manufacturing using Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) both in terms of project time savings and costs. The feasibility and potential benefits of delivering social housing construction projects using off site manufacturing techniques require real life analysis in order for Local Authorities and Department of Housing, Local Government & Heritage (DHLGH) to gain an understanding as to how these methods can be utilised to maximum potential for the Housing for All social housing construction program. It is proposed to conduct a joint procurement project by both Local Authorities for social housing construction projects incentivising off-site two-dimensional & three-dimensional accredited construction methods by establishment of a multi-party framework/direct contracts for Type 3 Projects (+€5m). The procurement strategy will be finalised in due course and duly notified via a European Dynamics notice.
