Description : The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine requires an ELISA system capable of identifying antibodies to BHV-1 virus in bovine serum and milk samples.
One of the ELISA kits should be able to identify the antibodies to glycoprotein B in bovine serum. This ELISA will detect antibody responses as a result of both infection and vaccination including the gE deleted vaccine. It will be referred to as “the gB ELISA kit”
A second ELISA kit will detect antibodies to the gE antigen of BHV-1 in individual bovine serum and in milk. The presence of antibodies to gE indicates exposure to field strains of BHV-1 and/or vaccines containing gE antigen. It will be referred to as “the gE ELISA kit”.
