This is a Prior Information Notice (PIN) and not a call for competition - a call for competition may be placed within the next 12 months. National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) of the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht (DCHG) is responsible for the conservation and management of natural habitats and species and the protection of biological diversity in Ireland. The National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) intends to hold a public competition for the provision of of a nationwide citizen science-based bird monitoring programme, comprised of the Countryside Bird Survey (CBS) and the Irish Wetland Birds Survey (I-WeBS) and other associated surveys. Service providers will be expected to have a high level of knowledge of the ecology and status of Ireland-s countryside and common farmland birds and wintering waterbirds, and the survey methodologies employed for these bird groups.
